About this watch
An independent watch with a distinctive vintage connection. Created in collaboration with William Massena’s Massena LAB, this MING 17.09 is one of just 150 examples produced with the black dial.
Founded in Malaysia by photographer and designer Ming Thein, MING brings a distinctive perspective to contemporary watchmaking. This collaboration combines that approach with Massena’s appreciation for vintage watches.
The intricate hexagonal honeycomb dial draws inspiration from the textured Rolex dials of the mid-twentieth century, reinterpreted with striking depth and geometry. A circularly brushed outer ring frames the centre, while luminous numerals etched into the underside of the sapphire crystal appear to float above the dial.
The 38mm stainless steel case features MING’s characteristic flared lugs. Inside is the automatic calibre 330.M1, based on the Sellita SW330-2 and developed with Schwarz-Etienne, featuring an independently adjustable hour hand.
Presented in good condition and offered as a full set with its original box, papers and an additional strap. A distinctive and scarce example of contemporary independent watchmaking.
